The Chocolate Diet – Why not?

We have had the Cabbage Soup Diet, the Grapefruit Diet and even the Junk Food Diet so why not the Chocolate Diet?

We have to have some justification for our Chocolate Diet and the fact that most chocolate contains milk is probably not sufficient, so let’s turn to the authoritative pages of the Daily Mail for inspiration.

Chocolate is Healthier than Fruit

In February 2011 in an article entitled “Chocolate Lovers Rejoice!”, the Daily Mail reported that scientists at the Hershey’s Centre for Health and Nutrition discovered that dark chocolate contains higher levels of antioxidants than juice made from the so called “superfruits”. Antioxidants help to keep skin and hair healthy and help prevent the aging process.

Chocolate may Protect the Brain from Stroke

In August 2012 the Daily Mail reported that the consumption of milk chocolate reduced the risk of stroke.  A beneficial effect due to chemicals with “antioxidant, anti-clotting, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol reducing properties”

Dark Chocolate Reduces Blood Pressure

In November 2011 the Daily Mail reported on Swedish research that discovered that the consumption of dark chocolate reduced blood pressure as effectively as drugs designed to do so!

The two-week dark chocolate diet

At this point you would love me to say “drop a dress size with the two-week chocolate diet” but no!  If, however, you want to reduce your risk of diabetes and high blood pressure then this article describes the Chocolate Diet (but check with your doctor first).

A little of what you fancy does you good!

The trouble with chocolate is that it tends to be consumed in addition to ones normal diet. Any food consumed in excess to what ones body requires will ultimately make one overweight. All of the studies referenced above drew attention to this fact and they all used moderate amounts of chocolate.

Using Chocolate to Lose Weight

The over consumption of chocolate will make you fat but maybe it can be used to lose weight. Peter Ajello lost over 15 stone using chocolate to stave off sweet tooth cravings, but Peter’s achievement still required a lot of commitment and hard work.
