A bird phobia can be extremely debilitating; making one anxious every time one goes outside.
Developing a Bird Phobia
The phobia or fear of birds is on that is usually developed in early childhood. It can be developed either as a result of experiencing personal fear in a situation involving a bird or by experiencing the fear of another person. As an adult it is easy to see how the flapping of a bird’s wings can be overcome a small child. The wings become even more frightening if the bird panics as it attempts to escape a confined area.
There are reports of birds showing aggressive behaviour towards humans, especially if they fear their young to be in danger but there are very few birds that can actually cause an adult physical injury. We have all heard that “a swan’s wing can break a man’s arm” but it is probable that the example was created to illustrate the power in a swan’s wing rather than as a warning to the public. The fact is that the closest we normally get to a wild bird is feeding the ducks in the park or trying to avoid stepping on the pigeons as we walk round the town.
Cure a Bird Phobia
Hypnotherapy and NLP is used to cure phobias by helping the sufferer to view the initial sensitising experience from a different, safer, perspective. The hypnosis allows you overcome your fear by developing a new perspective that does not hold the fear that was programmed in by the original experience. With the correct treatment you can cure your ornithophobia, or bird phobia. Hypnotherapy and NLP can be extremely effective as a cure for a bird phobia.
