Hypnobirthing - the Use of Hypnosis in Childbirth

“There is power that comes to women when they give birth.  They don't ask for it, it simply invades them.  Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it

- Sheryl Feldman

Inner power Hypnobirthing for Natural Childbirth

The benefits of using hypnosis to assist with pregnancy and birth have been officially recognised medically for many years.  In 1955 the British Medical Association approved the use of hypnosis in many areas: including childbirth and pain management.

Hypnobirthing is Not Just for the Birth

Hypnosis is applicable for all stages of pregnancy and birth. There are many issues, like morning sickness, where hypnosis can be of value.  You will be given a free copy of your pregnancy and birthing hypnosis session that you can use to reinforce the message of a comfortable and natural preparation for motherhood.

Your Partner Plays an Essential Part

Your baby’s father or the person you choose to help you through childbirth is an essential part of the process.  Your birthing partner attends the hypnobirthing sessions with you - so rather than sitting feeling helpless or playing with their mobile they can assist you to make your labour as comfortable and rewarding experience as possible.

The Benefits of Hypnobirthing

In 1990 a study at the University of Wisconsin found that when hypnosis was used in childbirth the results were:

In 2000 a study at the University of Florida found that mothers that using hypnosis experienced greater control over stress and anxiety and were better able to make lifestyle changes to combat high blood pressure. The mothers also had less complications and surgical intervention and gave birth to healthier babies.

Your Hypnobirthing Programme

Inner Power Hypnobirthing, as developed by Paola Bagnall, can be learnt with three (the ideal), two or one “triple” session. The number of sessions depends mainly on where you are in your pregnancy:

(Hypnobirthing sessions are only carried out at the Guildford, Surrey Practice. More of a breakdown of the sessions can be found in the T&Cs)
